After a long summer of preparation, Ditchling RFC return to competitive action this Saturday as the 2026/27 league campaign gets underway.
The opening fixture sees Ditch make the short trip to Burgess Hill, who come into Sussex Counties Two following promotion last season. It will be the first meeting between the two sides for some time and provides an interesting opening test for both clubs as they begin their new campaigns.
Pre-season has brought plenty of change to the Ditchling group, with a number of new faces joining a strong core of returning players. Training throughout the summer has focused on building fitness, developing the club’s shape and systems, and creating greater competition for places across the squad. Saturday provides the first opportunity to put that work into practice in a competitive fixture.
The occasion will also carry added significance for both clubs, with the day providing an opportunity to celebrate Bob “Sheddy” Shed, a good friend of both Ditchling and Burgess Hill Rugby Clubs.
Supporters are encouraged to get down to Burgess Hill and get behind the boys for the first league fixture of the season.
