Ditchling return to league action tomorrow as the First XV travel to Eastbourne Nomads for the second round of the Sussex Counties Two campaign.
With the successful opening fixture of the season now behind us, attention turns to building on the foundations laid during pre-season and last weekend’s trip to Burgess Hill. The early weeks of a new campaign are always about refinement. New combinations continue to settle, structures become more familiar and the work put in on the training field begins to translate into competitive rugby. Tomorrow provides another valuable opportunity for Ditchling to take that next step.
Eastbourne will offer a different challenge and, with Ditch facing a second consecutive fixture away from home, the squad will once again need to bring the physicality, discipline and togetherness that have been central to the group throughout pre-season.
Saturday is another opportunity to do exactly that.
The objective remains simple: improve week by week, compete for one another and continue developing the identity of this Ditchling side. For those making the trip to Eastbourne, your support from the touchline is, as ever, hugely appreciated.
