Ditchling 1st XV returned to The Sty this weekend and produced a composed, team-focused performance under the captaincy of Alex Hinchliffe, securing an 85–0 win against a determined Jersey Royals side.
While the scoreline was one-sided, the visiting Royals showed great commitment throughout, playing with spirit and effort right to the final whistle. Their perseverance was appreciated by both sets of supporters and reflected the true spirit of the game.
For Ditchling, the performance was built on cohesion and unselfish play. Every player contributed, with strong defensive organisation and fluid attacking movement combining to produce some excellent rugby.
Among the many try scorers, Nick Whitley-Jones and Charlie Pearson crossed the line four times each, finishing off some well-worked team moves that started with patience and precision. Further tries from Dylan Thomas, Takhy Ndiaye-Marrero, Teddy Birkbeck, Jarrell Bobo, and Will Purdy rounded off a confident and disciplined display.
The afternoon was also lifted by fantastic home support, whose noise and encouragement gave the side an extra lift. The players will be looking to carry that same energy and focus into their next fixture — away to Shoreham.

Over at Burgess Hill, the Boarpack XV, led by captain James Goodsell, showed real heart and determination in difficult weather conditions. Despite the narrow loss, the team can take huge positives from a gritty and committed performance that showcased both spirit and unity.
Every player stood up to the challenge, working hard in defence and pushing forward at every opportunity. The Boarpack’s effort and teamwork were clear throughout — a reflection of the growing strength and depth within the squad.
It was a weekend that once again showed the pride and spirit running through Ditchling Rugby — from the 1st XV’s control and teamwork at home, to the Boarpack’s resilience and heart on the road.
