Ditchling Mini's - The Wild Piglets

Open to all boys and girls aged 5-11 years (Reception to Yr 6), of any ability. 

9.30-10.45am Sundays (from 3rd Sept 2023).

At Ditchling RFC we believe that you’re never too young to learn a game that we all love! Rugby’s values of Teamwork, Respect, Enjoyment, Discipline and Sportsmanship are what makes the game special for those who enjoy the environment and culture they create.

We value player Welfare and Safeguarding young people above all else. Any child of any ability is welcome. If you’re interested, do please come along for a taster session with no obligation.

WHAT TO EXPECT…

• We want your Piglets to have fun, have some exercise and hopefully learn something new
• We foster an inclusive environment with a small dose of healthy competition
• Piglets will train in their respective age groups (approx 8-15 children in each) and will always do drills that are appropriate for the age group in line with RFU guidelines
• Contact tackling is only introduced gradually from Under 9s (year 4) and over
• We’re slowly introducing more friendly games with other local clubs this season
• When the Chief Tea Officer isn’t on holiday there is usually hot tea/coffee, maybe a biscuit or 2, seating and some enlightening chat for the parents!

COACHING…

• We have RFU qualified coaches and qualified First Aiders
• Our Coaches are also parents of children who play or have played in the Mini’s
• All coaches are DBS checked 
• We have varying experience in coaching but support each other and rotate through the age groups so that we are always learning
• Almost all of us have grown up playing rugby ourselves so we really appreciate the values of rugby

LOGISTICS…

• Season starts 3rd September 2023 and usually runs until April/May, with short breaks for key school holidays
• We start promptly at 9.30am every Sunday morning, unless it’s icy, stormy or just too wet!
• Subs are £80 per child per year, which includes a piece of club kit
